What an adventure!
Various workshops for children - PLUS a Zoom cultural exchange between Cameroonian children - and their Welsh counterparts from The Welsh Language Primary School in Swansea. (Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Y Login Fach)
First stop: children at the Afrogiveness Art Centre in Yaounde.
Afrogiveness Art Centre is a unique program run for children and young adults displaced and traumatised by internal political conflict. Therapy is provided through creativity: art, drama, music and more channels.
The Zoom Cultural Exchange Q & A was a great session of Q & A, singing of the Cameroonian national anthem and the Welsh by the Welsh school children over in Swansea.(sorry, no footage or recording of the actual event).
However, we did listen to feedback immediately after the Exchange. There was a sense of excitement from the participants. This young girl summed up her impressions beautifully:
The follwing day was the art workshop. More children joined in than planned!
Next stop the following week was the beautiful seaside town of Limbe, where we ran a 3-Day Art Workshop at Saker Baptist College, a girl's boarding school.
It turned out to be well attended - and girls ended up attending more than one sessiom than registered.
The trip to Cameroon was adventourous, invigorating, inspiring and enlightening. Many more are planned in the future for LIGHT STREAMS!
